Il festival internazionale della musica a plettro incentiva la composizione di nuove opere (maggiori informazioni cliccando su link qui sotto) ed è aperto a tutte le orchestre o gruppi che presenteranno ed interpreteranno un'opera in prima assoluta.

El Festival Internacional de Música de Plectro incentiva la composición de obras nuevas y su estreno, convocando los premios cuya cuantía, concepto y condiciones se especifican a continuación y a la que tendrán acceso todas aquéllas orquestas o grupos que presenten e interpreten una obra de estreno absoluto.

1° premio: 3.000 Euro
2° premio: 1.800 Euro
due premi "accésit" da 600 Euro cadauno

The International Festival of Plectro Music of La Rioja is described as an international encounter for promotion of music performed by plectro formations.

Essential objetives

1 To encourage the composition and interpretation of music created for instruments plucked with a plectrum. (These include the families of the lute, bandurria, mandolin, domra, American mandola etc.)

2 To extend the culture of plectro music, interpreted by orchestras and chamber groups in all those places that demand our concerts.

3 To foster cultural exchange and cooperation with national or international institutions of Plectrum Music

All orchestras, groups or soloists whose program contains 33% of original music for plectro as a minimum have the option to participate.

The organizers understand as original music, the one which was conceived and written for plucked instruments by a composer of any epoch.

Further they see as original music, folk or popular music from any country which was created or developed with plectro instruments

Besides, the Festival offers participants:

Spaces for musicians to listen to each other, enabling mutual exchange and enrichment.
The possibility to attend to official concerts of the festival as well as to perform at spontaneous 'concerts among friends' arranged intentionally out of the plan of the International Festival of Plecto Music.
The possibility to present new proposals in front of a specialized audience and difficult works to listen at.
To take part at other celebrations and entertaining events organized during the Festival.

General conditions for participation

1 The Festival may take part orchestras and ensembles as well as soloists, duos, quartets, etc., who agree with these conditions and get an invitation from the Organising Committee.

2 Requisites for orchestras and groups to get an invitation are:

To fill in and sign the above Candidature form, thus anifesting their intention to participate and preferred dates, handing it over in the fixed time.
To attach one of the recent concert programs and a recording (MC, CD, or similar) so that the organizers can evaluate the music performed by the orchestra or group as well as an advance of the pieces (name, composer) that would be terpreted at the Festival.
To attach a short biography.

3 The organisers offer to all musicians who take part: Free stay with full board (food and bed) at a student residence (in double rooms,) for maximal 20 people / an orchestra for between 2 and 5 days of permanence.

4 Traveling expenses (to Logroño and back home) go on the cost of the participants

5 Participants will be ready to give as many concerts as the organizers find opportune, depending from the time of permanence and the program needs.

6 The cost of the accompanists' accommodation and food is in charge of the orchestras or groups. The organizers can provide these people with full board (bed and food) for 36 E/Person / 1 day

The dates to be kept strictly are

Definitive confirmation and reception of complete documentation (programs, photographs, Nr. of participants and accompanists, confirmation of dates)

Additional remarks

The organizing committee will not admit any changes concerning participation, programs, agreements, dates, etc., after the 15th May 2006 and they preserve their faculty to cancel all the previous arrangements with any group or orchestra who do not keep one or more of the conditions or formal requirements.

The Organizing Committee preserve the possibility to make changes or exceptions to these conditions

The International Festival of Plectrum Music stimulates the composition of new works and their first performance with a prize, whose amount, concept and conditions are described below.

All orchestras or groups who present one work as an absolute first performance will have access to the prize.

Orchestras or groups who want to apply and contest for one of the prizes will have to note the name of the composer and the title of the work in their candidature form.

The contest for the first performance of the new works and concession of the prizes will be on 4th, 5th and 6th August

General concept, considerations

1 The Prizes Internacionales de Composición ‘City of Logroño go to a total amount of 6.000 Euros.

2 The Committee fixes the following prizes:

One First Prize for 3.000 Euros
One Second Prize for 1.800 Euros
Two ‘Accésits’ for 600 Euros each

3 After receiving the candidatures the committee will decide about the invitation and access of the orchestras, groups or soloists to the contest.

4 The jury will be composed by reputable artists and musical experts at national / international level.

5 The deliberations of the jury are secret and their decisions are firm.

6 In case two or more new compositions were proposed by a group for a first performance, only one piece will compete for the prizes.The rest of premiere pieces may be performed too, but out of competition. For the performance of world premiere pieces not awarded with a prize a certificate will be issued.

7 The Organizing Committee believes in the word of the interpreters about the originality of the pieces proposed in their programs. In the same way, we accept the declaration of the interpreters and / or composers about the world premiere pieces competing for the Prizes.

Conditions about the world premiére pieces

1 The awarded world premiere pieces will be unedited and performed for the public for the very first time during the Competition concerts. They may not be presented in other previous concerts out of / or during the International Festival of Plectrum Music.

2 The appliers for the composition contest will hand to the SAR directly, or by post, previous the 15th July 2006 an envelope containing 2 copies of the scores.

3 The awarded pieces will wear the ‘second name’ "Premios Internacionales de Composición Ciudad de Logroño", and this shall be mentioned in future programs, editions, recordings or performances of these works.

4 All copyrights about the script of the works (scores) are property of the composer.. The Sociedad Artística Riojana will keep and custody a copy of the scores of each one of the pieces and is obliged to ask for permission or negotiate with the author(s) if any orchestra, group, organization or single person shows interest for one or more pieces (interpretation, edition, recording, publishing, etc.)

5 The composers of the world premiere pieces, or the interpreters as their representatives,will hand to the organizers a technical card with details about the pieces, such as a short biography of the author, copy right data, instrumentation and a musical comment about the piece.

6 The Sociedad Artística Riojana has the commitment to give information about the world premiere works (awarded or not) to any specialized magazines, plucked string organizations, orchestras, ensembles or singular people who are interested in them.
