5th meeting of the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra (EGMYO)

(Rencontre européenne de jeunes guitarists et mandolinistes)

in Larochette (Luxemburg) from  21^st  to  29^th March, 2005

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

from the 21^st until the 29^th of March 2005, the European Guitar and Mandolin Association (EGMA) in cooperation with Union Grand Duc Adolphe (UGDA) and the Musical School of UGDA will be holding the 5th meeting of the European Plucked String Youth Orchestra in Larochette, Luxembourg. Please see the enclosed information for details about the artistic direction, the lecturers, the program and the conditions of participation.

With this circular I would like to give you some information about the project and kindly ask you to give financial and idealistic support to this project within the realms of your possibility. I would like to invite interested young musicians of your country  most heartily to take part in EGMYO 2005. To make sure that your country is represented in the  EGMYO look for these young people, select suitable ones and return the filled in registration form  together with a photo as soon as possible, to avoid unnecessary delay to the preparations. Final registration is December 15^th, 2004 (closing date).

Please arrange the arrival of your participants either in Larochette directly or at Luxembourg airport or main-station Luxembourg on March 21^st , so that we can travel in the late afternoon as a group by bus from the airport as well as from the main-station to Larochette. The time when the bus will leave has not been fixed yet.  Flight connections to Luxembourg might be in high demand because of the Easter holidays, so it’s a good idea to make the booking very soon,  immediately after receipt of the confirmation letter of their registration.

We intend to send the participants the music sheets  in advance, to make technical preparation possible and to give them a chance for technical preparation. This will be done immediately after the music sheets are ready for dispatch.

Just for your information, all previous EGMYO participants will be receiving a separate invitation either in English or German, so Larochette will be a good opportunity for regular

players to meet up again. Of course, there will also be sightseeing activities as much as possible within the short time.

I  ask you to support the participants of your country by financial help. Please contact the cultural ministry in your country, city or area, and ask about assistance with travelling expenses. You can also write for example to the mayor of participant´s town about a subsidy, if you think this might be successful. You also stand a good chance of getting assistance from the local bank and similar organisations – if you ask for it!.

I will be very happy if your country is represented in the EGMYO meeting in Larochette.

5. EGMYO-Meeting 2005 in Larochette / Luxembourg

21. – 29. March, 2005

The 5th meeting of the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra (EGMYO)  is taking place in Larochette / Luxembourg from 21^st  to 29^th March,  2005.  Once again we invite young people from all European countries,  aged between 16 to 27 years, who are interested in rehearsing a high quality music program during this period and to give public performances of this music at  the end of the meeting period.

Following performances have been suggested for the program of which 4-5 pieces will be chosen. The selection depends on the availability of the music sheets :

• Giovanni Bonato (Italy):                                         Zupfakkordspiel
• Raffaele Calace (Italy):                                         Impressioni Orientali (with harp)
• Hermann Ambrosius (Germany):                            Konzert für 2 Gitarren und Zupforch.

The artistic lecturers are:

• Pedro  Chamorro, conductor (Spain)
• Mari Fe Pavón, Mandolin (Spain)
• Juan Carlos Muñoz,  Mandolin (Luxembourg)
• Annemie Hermans, Mandola (Netherlands)
• Mirko Schrader, Guitar (Germany)

Permitted instruments are:

• Mandolin
• Bandurria
• Mandola
• Laud Espagnõl
• Guitar
• Double bass

Conditions of Participation:

• Advanced performance level and experience as orchestral player
• Participant’s contribution amounting € 200,00
• Travel expenses to Larochette on own account
• Interested in meeting the youth of other countries

Moreover, we await all participants coming to this EGMYO-meeting being well prepared on the music sheets which we have sent before.
